Cadillac, MI – Rempco Inc. announced today that it delivered eleven, mechanical levelwind systems to PDI, Power Dynamics Innovations LLC located in Stennis Space Center, Mississippi.
Power Dynamics was awarded a contract by the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock for the design and construction of four winch packages for SEAFAC, Southeast Acoustic Measurement Facility located in Ketchikan, Alaska.
Another seven levelwind systems were incorporated into PDI winches destined for an Army Corps of Engineers crane barge constructed by Conrad Shipyard, Morgan City, LA. The barge will be used to raise and lower wickets as well as perform maintenance functions at the Olmstead locks and dam on the Ohio River.
Levelwind systems control cable spooling onto winch drums and must be designed to withstand a variety of loads and environmental conditions. The PDI winch applications included spud, positioning, anchor, and hoist functions. Rempco engineers worked closely with the Power Dynamics team to meet challenging performance targets with working loads ranging from 25,000 to 150,000 lbs. and static loads ranging from 103,000 to 660,000 lbs.
